Can I travel with my pet?
Pets are not allowed on coach tours.
I am a senior. Can some Day Tours be to difficult for me?
Nature is the main attraction on many of our excursions,
meaning that some day tours require short to medium long walks. If
walking is required on the tour it will be mentioned in the tour
description.
We recommend that you find a tour suitable to
your needs. Please read the tour descriptions for further information
on each tour.
Where does the coach depart from?
All Reykjavik Excursions coach tours depart from BSI bus terminal, Vatnsmýrarvegur 10, 101 Reykjavík. View on map
Can I buy many different tours at once?
You can buy as many tours as you like online, with one credit
card payment. If you are buying multiple tours make sure that they
don't intersect and you have enough time between each. Allow extra time
to account for delays caused by road conditions etc.
For example you can buy the Reykjavik Grand Excursion at 09:00, Gullfoss-Geysir Direct at 12:30 and Blue Lagoon Express
at 18:00, all on the same day. You just need to follow our schedule.
Pick up is always 30 minutes before departure, if you are following a
thight schedule you can also go directly to BSI bus terminal. All our
tours depart from this bus terminal.
Why should I buy a ticket online?
Our tours are free-sale but seats can not be guaranteed unless you have it reserved or booked.
You also do not have to wait in line, once you are in Iceland, to arrange your booking.
How does pick-up work? Where can you pick people up from?
All Reykjavík Excursions coach tours depart from BSI Bus
Terminal in Reykjavík. Pick up and drop off from all hotels and
guesthouses in Reykjavik are included in all day tours if booked in
advance.
If you book online and you wish to be picked up for a day
tour make sure you fill in the necessary information during your
online checkout.
Pick-up time is 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure times. Please be in front of your hotel or in the lobby for pick-up.
What is your policy on smoking?
Smoking is prohibited on board Reykjavik Excursions coaches.
What kind of coaches do you offer?
Reykjavik Excursions bus fleet is one of the best in Iceland. Our
fleet of modern coaches consists of 80 vehicles, varying from 6 to 70
seats and 4x4 coaches suitable for crossing un-bridged glacier rivers,
hence reaching almost any destination in the highlands. Constant
supervision, maintenance and upkeep ensure the quality of the coaches
and professional drivers enhance the safety of all passengers.
What does the guide do?
Reykjavik Excursions offer guidance in most of the tours.
Guidance is in English. Some tours are additionally guided in German,
French or Scandinavian (maximum 2 languages per tour).
Our tour
guides are professionals with degrees in various languages and/or
subjects relating to Icelandic tourism. Your guide tells you about the
area you are visiting and leads the way throughout the tour. He will
also be able to answer your questions, if you have any. Our aim is to
offer quality tours that feature the different aspects of Iceland's
nature, history, culture and modern living.
What is included in my tour?
All admission to sites, museums or exhibitions visited are included, unless otherwise stated in tour description.
What should I wear?
Sturdy shoes and a warm outdoor wear should be worn when travelling in Iceland during any season.
Nature is the main attraction on many of the excursions and a short outdoor walk may be included to fully enjoy the tour.
Do I need to bring my passport?
You do not need to bring your passport for the day tours. If you are
going snowmobiling you do need to bring a drivers license.
Are the prices fixed?
Tours and services are subject to currency fluctuation and conditions
of cooperative contractors that may provide transportation and other
services.
Liability?
Reykjavik Excursions reserve the right to alter routes,
itineraries or timetables without prior notice, should the necessity
arise.
No liability is accepted for losses or expenses due to
delays or changes of arrival or departure of flights or other services,
injury, sickness, accident, strikes, damage, negligence, weather, war
or other causes outside the control of Reykjavik Excursions.
All such losses and expenses are the personal liability of the traveller.
What about overbooking?
All our tours are on Free Sale basis and a confirmation from Reykjavik Excursions is therefore not needed to confirm booking.
If
you want a pick up from your hotel, your booking should contain the
following information: Name of tour requested, tour date, name of
guests, accommodation, date of arrival and departure, arrival time and
flight number, age of children traveling and other services included.
Please book with at least 1 hour notice if you want to be picked up
from you hotel or guesthouse.
When is my pick-up/drop-off?
Pick-up time is 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure times. Please be in front of your hotel or in the lobby for pick-up.
Pick-up
for Day Tours is operated by several smaller coaches throughout the
city centre. Main departure point is the BSI Bus Terminal.
Drop-off
after Day Tours may sometimes not be right in front of your
hotel/guesthouse due to narrow streets and actual coach size used on
the tour. Drop-off time depends on the duration of your tour.
Pick up and drop off is only available for Reykjavik Excursions Day Tours, not other tours.
What languages are spoken on the tours?
Guidance is in English.
Some tours are additionally
guided in German, French or Scandinavian (maximum 2 languages per
tour). Further information and details are listed with each tour.
How much luggage am I allowed to take with me?
You are allowed to take about 2 items of luggage with you for
your tour with Reykjavik Excursions. That is about the same amount
flight carriers allow (around 20-25kg). Normally passengers will not
bring that much luggage for a tour, except tours that have a drop off
at Keflavik International Airport (such as the Flybus and some Blue Lagoon tours).
If you are travelling with more luggage than is estimated you might want to send us a mail to main@re.is
or call our main BSI Bus Terminal office, (+354) 562 1011 in order to
allow for special arrangements, such as the booking of necessary space.
Can I change my dates?
We understand that your travel plans might change. You can
easily change the dates for your booked tours with only one phone call:
(+354) 562 1011, by stopping by at one of our sales offices, or by sending us an email to bookings@re.is. You will need to quote your confirmation number to change your dates and give us all necessary information.
Please remember: Your date change must be requested at least a day before scheduled departure.
How can I make a booking for a group of people?
You can book for a group of people using our online booking system. Each booking must contain at least one adult.

I still haven't received a confirmation email about my booking. What is wrong?
You can expect up to 24 hours to pass before receiving a confirmation via email.
Try
looking in your email's 'Trash' or 'Junk' folder. Sometimes
confirmation emails can get misplaced by your email server and do not
reach your inbox.
If more than 24 hours have passed, or if you booked a tour with a short notice, fill out
this form and we will get back to you. Please provide a phone number where you can be reached.
What is your refund policy?
Reykjavik Excursions reserves the rights to alter routes,
itineraries or timetables without prior notice, should the necessity
arise. No liability is accepted for losses, theft or expenses due to
delay of any agent, hotel, coach, operator, airline, guide, restaurant
or any other persons or companies, however caused. Reykjavik Excursions
is not responsible for losses in the event of Force Major, such as
natural catastrophes, strikes, weather, war or other causes outside of
the control of Reykjavik Excursions. All such losses and expenses are
the personal liability of the traveller. we advice all clients to have
a travel insurance, as they travel at their own responsibility on tours
and transfers.
All cancellations should be in writing and be notified as soon as possible.
If there is a no show the passenger is charged the full amount for the tour.
Can I change my booking?
If you booked directly through Reykjavik Excursions, either
online or at a sales office, you can always change your booking. Just
make sure you do it in time, so pick up information can be changed. To
change your booking contact us via this form or by phone at (+354) 562 1011. Please have all the neccessary information at hand, including your confirmation letter.
If you booked through another travel agency you have to make the changes through that agency and follow the terms set by them.
I have a problem with my online booking. What is wrong?
Our aim is to make it as convenient as possible to book a
tour with Reykjavik Excursions. If you experience difficulties, they
might only be temporary. Try booking again after a few minutes.
If the problem persists, you can place your booking via this form
or call (+354) 562 1011 and talk to a sales executive. Please disclose
tour name, tour date, no. of passengers, your name and contact
information so that we can complete your booking for you.

What is RE's policy regarding overbooking?
All our tours are in free sale so there are no seat limits. This means that a tour can never be overbooked.
However, seats cannot be guaranteed unless reserved or booked at least 1 hour before scheduled departure time.
I got sick and can't use my Day Tour ticket. Can I get it refunded?
All cancellations should be in writing and be notified 24 hours before departure.
If
you bought your ticket at one of the Reykjavik Excursions sale offices,
and you notify 24 hours before your pick up, your ticket will be refunded.
Where are your sales offices?
Reykjavik Excursions operates 4 sales offices in Reykjavik and a sales office at Keflavik Airport.
The
offices in Reykjavik are located at the main BSÍ Bus Terminal and at
three major hotels: Nordica hotel, Radisson SAS Saga hotel and
Loftleidir hotel. See also on our About page.
How far in advance can I book a day tour online?
If a tour is displayed online you can book it and be guarantied a seat in the tour.
I don't have a printer. Do I need to print out my ticket/voucher?
It is recommended that you print out your confirmation and
bring it with you on paper for your tour. That helps us prevent delays
and service you sooner, once you arrive for your tour.
If you
cannot print your confirmation, please show up early for your tour so
our staff has time to confirm your booking. You will be asked to
present your confirmation number and identification. Be advised, that
this might require some waiting on your behalf.
What do you mean when you say that seats are always guaranteed?
The Flybus is scheduled to/from the airport in connection with every flight-all year around, also the late ones.
The departure for the Flybus is in front of the airport, where arriving
passengers exit. You will also find our sales office by that exit.
The
Flybus departs app. 30-40 minutes after each arrival. The Flybus is not
booked, due to possible changes in flight schedules, and a seat is
always available to all airport passengers.
Can the Flybus pick me up?
Pick-up for the Flybus+ is available on request from most major
hotels and the Youth Hostel, and should be booked at the hotel
reception the evening before. Please check the correct pick-up times
from the reception staff if your accommodation provides this service.

Where does the flybus stop?
On the way to Reykjavik the Flybus stops in Hafnarfjörður and
Garðabær. If you wish to be dropped off at those stops you must tell
the driver, prior to your journey.
The main stop is BSÍ Bus
Terminal, in the center of Reykjavik. Transfers are available from BSI
Bus Terminal to most major hotels. These transfers are
also offered for passengers going to the Youth hostel, Laugardalur
camping area and the Reykjavík domestic airport. The Flybus driver will
ask you to board a smaller bus for these hotel transfers.
If my flight is delayed, will I miss the flybus?
There is a Flybus for all arriving flights, also for the delayed
ones. The Flybus departs app. 30-40 minutes after each arrival.
It is not possible to book seat, due to possible changes in the flight schedules.
How long does it take to get to Keflavík Airport?
It takes about 40-50 minutes to drive from BSI bus terminal to
Keflavík Airport. This time is based on normal road and weather
conditions.
I need to get to the airport. Do I take the flybus?
The Flybus is the only scheduled shuttle bus from Keflavik
Airport to Reykjavik. There are Flybus departures from BSÍ Bus Terminal
in connection with all departing flights from Keflavik International
Airport.
The day before your departure from Iceland, please
check if you hotel lobby has a pick up service for the Flybus. The
Flybus operates all year, daily from Reykjavik to Keflavik
International Airport. Please check timetable for departure times.
Can I buy my Flybus ticket in advance?
Yes, you can buy your Flybus ticket in advance. The Flybus tickets
are not issued by date nor time so each ticket is valid for all Flybus
departures. You can purchase Flybus tickets here.
How far in advance must I take the Flybus to get to Keflavík Airport in time?
Passengers are recommended to arrive at Keflavik Airport 1,5 -2
hours before departure time and it takes about 40-50 minutes to drive
from BSI bus terminal to Keflavík Airport. If you take a Flybus approx.
2 - 3 hours before departure time you will arrive at the airport as
recommended.
Do you offer group discount?
Reykjavik Excursions does not offer group discount on day tours, tours sold online or at a sales office.
If you wish to plan a special trip in Iceland for a group of people, please contact main@re.is and have us make you an offer.
I don't have a credit card. Can I still book online?
For online bookings you need a credit card to finish booking online.
If
you don't have a credit card, you can send a booking request to
bookings@re.is. Please disclose tour name, tour date, no. of
passengers, your name and contact information so that we can complete
your booking for you.
Can I pay with a debit card online?
No, unfortunately we do not accept debit cards online.
However, we accept debit cards in all of our sales offices in
Iceland.
If you do not have a credit card you can also send
your booking to bookings@re.is.Please disclose tour name, tour date,
no. of passengers, your name and contact information so that we can
complete the booking for you.
What Credit Cards are accepted as payment?
We accept the following cards as payment for your bookings: Visa, MasterCard and JCB.
