Þórsmörk - Húsadalur

Thorsmork is one of Iceland’s greatest nature wonders, encircled by
nature barriers such as mountains, glaciers and un-bridged waters in
all directions. Thorsmork is only accessible on specially equipped
vehicles and with experienced drivers.
Climate
in Thorsmork is unique, because it is a haven surrounded on all sides
with glaciers and mountains providing shelter from harsh weather
conditions. Weather is therefore often better there than in the
neighboring areas. Thorsmork has a diverse flora and magnificent
landscapes.
From Húsadalur in Thorsmork lies an
array of hiking routes. One of those is the Laugavegur hiking route,
probably the most popular hiking route in Iceland. It lies between
Landmannalaugar and Thorsmork and spans 55 kilometers.
Reykjavik Excursions offers daily departures from Reykjavik to Thorsmork every summer.

Sightseeing in Thorsmork
From
Húsadalur you can board a sightseeing bus that takes you to
Stakkholtsgjá, Langidalur and Básar and then back to Húsadalur in
Þórsmörk. Departures are every day at 13:00 and arrival back in
Húsadalur is at 14:30.
