Experience magnificent views while holding an ice axe!

Visit a frozen wonderland on top of the world, which is not easily approached in any other way. Explore the magnificent views of Svínafell glacier on this two hour hike, which is rated “easy”. On the hike you will also learn the basics of using an ice axe and walking with crampons (spiked shoes).

The glacier is part of Vatnajökull glacier, which is the largest icecap in Europe. The hike takes place during a tour of Skaftafell National Park, which in addition to the hike offers astounding mountain views, as well as nature trails among the park’s varied flora and fauna.

A narrow but very powerful and picturesque waterfall dropping some 60 meters straight off the fell side. If you like you can walk behind it and through to the other side.



Skógafoss waterfall is one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland with a width of 25 meters (82 ft.) Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a rainbow is very often visible on a sunny day.

Skaftafell is renowned in Iceland for its agreeable climate and the sunny days in summer. Skaftafell National Park became a part of the larger Vatnajökull National Park in 2008. Within the park lies half of the largest ice cap in Europe, Vatnajökull.
