The Golden Circle with Kerið Crater

This Golden Circle tour visits Iceland's three most famous natural landmarks: Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss waterfall and adds a fourth stop the classic route often skips: the Kerið volcanic crater. Geysir

In the Haukadalur geothermal valley, hot springs bubble and steam between the rocks. The star is Strokkur, which erupts every few minutes and sends a column of boiling water high into the air — the most dependable geyser to watch in Iceland. This is the area that gave the English language the word "geyser".

Gullfoss

Gullfoss — the "golden falls" — is often called the queen of Iceland's waterfalls. From the viewing paths you can stand close to its two tiers as the glacial river drops into a rugged canyon below. It's a genuinely powerful sight, especially on a clear day when spray catches the light and rainbows form over the gorge.

Þingvellir

Þingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the few places on Earth where you can walk through the rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. It's also where Iceland's parliament, the Alþingi, was founded in 930 AD — making it as central to Icelandic history as it is to the country's geology.

Kerið

Kerið (anglicised as Kerid) is one of Iceland's most striking volcanic craters — and the stop that sets this tour apart from the standard Golden Circle. Formed around 3,000 years ago, it's known for steep red-and-black slopes that frame a calm, aquamarine lake on the crater floor. Around 55 metres deep and 170 metres wide, it has an easy path around the rim with wide views across the surrounding lava fields. Your entrance fee is included.
