This private South Coast tour covers the full run from Reykjavík to Jökulsárlón in a single long day, with the vehicle and guide reserved for your group alone. After an early pickup from your accommodation, the drive follows the Ring Road east, stopping at the coast's best-known sights along the way.

The first stop is Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland's most visited waterfalls and the only one you can walk behind for a view of the falling water from the other side. Further along is Skógafoss, another major waterfall marking a stretch of coastline the sea has since retreated from.

The route passes close to two of Iceland's most active volcanoes: Hekla, once called the "gateway to hell" in medieval times, and Eyjafjallajökull, whose 2010 eruption grounded flights across Europe. Next comes Reynisfjara, a black sand beach lined with basalt columns and sea stacks, near the village of Vík.

From there the landscape keeps shifting, moss-covered lava fields, black sand plains, sea cliffs and glacial rivers, until you reach Jökulsárlón itself. Iceland's deepest lake, it's filled with icebergs drifting from the glacier toward the sea, some washing up on the nearby black sand known as Diamond Beach. You'll have time to explore the lagoon at your own pace before the drive back to Reykjavík. An optional boat tour on the lagoon runs from May to October, weather permitting, and is not included in the tour price.

Note: this is a long day with limited time at each stop. The itinerary depends on weather and road conditions, and in winter some sights may be seen at dusk or in the dark.

Most visitors start with the Golden Circle because it is closer to Reykjavík and features three of Iceland's most famous natural attractions. The South Coast is often explored afterward, especially if continuing east toward Vík, Skaftafell, or Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.
You can see glaciers in Iceland by joining sightseeing tours, hiking with a guide, snowmobiling across the ice, or taking a boat cruise on Jökulsárlón lagoon for views of floating icebergs and nearby glaciers.
Yes, it’s possible to see the main highlights in one day, especially on a guided tour. However, visiting Jökulsárlón makes for a longer day due to the distance from Reykjavik.
Diamond Beach is just a two-minute walk from Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where the ice drifts into the sea before washing ashore.
Yes! Its glowing ice formations on black sand create a stunning, otherworldly scene. Just a short walk from Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, it's a must-see for photographers and nature lovers.
Most South Coast day tours include Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, Reynisfjara black sand beach, and the village of Vík. Some longer tours also visit Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach.
