Loading...This private South Coast tour puts a guide and SUV at your disposal for the day, with no other travelers along for the ride, and room to add stops or activities as time and weather allow.
The first stop is Seljalandsfoss, known for the natural cave behind its cascade. In summer, you can walk behind the falling water for a view from the inside. The route continues to the village of Vík, Iceland's southernmost settlement, with a stop along the way at Reynisfjara, a black sand beach framed by basalt sea stacks. The surf here is strong, so visitors are advised to always keep an eye on the water.
Nearby, the Dyrhólaey promontory hosts one of Iceland's larger puffin colonies during summer, and offers clifftop views over the coast. As this is a private tour, extra stops can be worked in depending on time and conditions.
The scheduled route ends at Skógafoss, a waterfall over 25 meters wide with a 60-meter drop, set between the Mýrdalsjökull and Eyjafjallajökull glaciers. At booking, optional glacier activities can be added on, including snowmobiling, an ATV ride, a guided glacier hike, glacier kayaking, horseback riding, or a lava cave tour.
Note: the itinerary depends on weather and road conditions. In winter, limited daylight may mean some stops are seen at dusk, in the dark, or skipped.
