Tour Outline
Your South Coast adventure begins with an easy pickup in Reykjavík before heading east toward one of the most picturesque regions in the country. As the city fades behind you, the landscape shifts into vast lava fields draped in moss, dramatic mountains, and wide farmlands where Icelandic horses and sheep roam freely.
Along the way, you’ll pass prominent volcanoes such as Eyjafjallajökull and Katla — the latter hidden beneath the enormous Mýrdalsjökull ice cap. With glaciers, coastlines, and towering cliffs unfolding around every turn, the drive itself becomes part of the experience.
Throughout the day, we’ll stop at some of the South Coast’s most iconic sites: powerful waterfalls, world-famous black sand beaches, and striking glacier viewpoints. It’s the perfect introduction to Iceland’s wild and varied landscapes.
The South Coast tour returns to BSÍ at approx. 19:30 (7.30 PM) giving you plenty of time to grab a bite and relax before embarking on your second leg of the day, hunting for the Northern Lights. This tour departs at 21:00 (9 PM) and stops at different locations from day to day, depending on cloud coverage and weather conditions. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and not always visible but if you don't spot lights on our tour, you're welcome to try again on another tour, free of cost. The tour is automatically cancelled if conditions will obviously not permit any sightings. Going on a Northern Lights tour with us maximizes your potential of spotting the Aurora Borealis while in Iceland as we use our decades of experience to hunt down the best spots to view this extraordinary wonder.
At the end of the day, we hope to return you to BSÍ, with a full camera roll of unforgettable scenery and magical moments from Iceland that will stay with you forever.
