Visit Iceland’s Highlands on a full-day tour where volcanic landscapes, powerful waterfalls and Viking history come together.

This is a guided small group tour that takes you to two of the country’s most impressive waterfalls: Háifoss and Hjálparfoss with a visit to the Commonwealth Farm, a reconstructed Viking farm. Travelling away from the busiest tourist routes, this tour offers time to explore, walk, and photograph landscapes shaped by fire, water and history over thousands of years. It’s an ideal choice for travellers who want to experience a quieter, more dramatic side of Iceland while still enjoying famous landmarks, comfortable transport and expert local guidance.

Hjálparfoss

Hjálparfoss is a distinctive double waterfall where two rivers meet, cascading side by side into a shared pool. Hjalparfoss is surrounded by dark lava formations and geometric basalt columns, the area showcases the contrast between Iceland’s volcanic terrain and flowing water. A short and accessible walk leads to viewpoints around the falls, making this an excellent introduction to Iceland’s raw highland scenery that offers a serene and easy approach to one of Iceland's iconic waterfalls. And if you’re looking for that perfect proposal spot, this would be it!

Háifoss

Háifoss is one of Iceland’s tallest waterfalls, plunging dramatically into a deep gorge carved by volcanic activity and glacial rivers. The surrounding landscape is vast and raw, with steep cliffs, open plateaus, and sweeping views across the Highlands. In recent years, the striking appearance of the Haifoss area has drawn international attention for its otherworldly atmosphere, most recently after the season finale of the TV series Stranger Things. If you’re stood here wondering if these surroundings are real, you are not alone but know that we, too, believe. Here, you’ll have time to walk, take photographs, and fully absorb the enormous scale and drama of this remote setting. Difficulty level: easy to moderate walking.

Commonwealth Farm

Þjóðveldisbærinn or The Commonwealth Farm in Þjórsársdalur is a carefully reconstructed Viking farm based on archaeological remains from the 11th century. The site offers a unique insight into early Icelandic life, traditional turf house construction, and the challenges faced by the country’s first settlers. The tour stops here around lunchtime, giving you plenty of time to explore the buildings at your own pace. Lunch and entrance fees are not included.
