Tour Highlights
Reykjavik pickup
Our journey begins with pickup in the Reykjavík area between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. We collect guests from selected hotels and designated bus stops before setting off on the day’s adventure. Once everyone is aboard, we head out of the city toward our first destination.
Þingvellir National Park
Þingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Iceland’s history and geology meet in a breathtaking landscape. It was here that the world’s oldest parliament was founded in the year 930, where chieftains gathered each summer to shape the nation’s laws. The park also lies in a dramatic rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates—offering visitors the chance to walk across continents. We’ll take a gentle walk to the beautiful Öxarárfoss waterfall, where the Öxará River was cleverly redirected a thousand years ago to serve early settlers and their assemblies.
Deildartunguhver Hot Spring
Next, we visit Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. From the ground bursts nearly 180 liters of boiling water every second—an astonishing display of Iceland’s geothermal might. Safe walkways lead you close enough to feel the heat and see the steam rising into the air. These hot waters are more than just a natural wonder—they supply nearby towns like Borgarnes and Akranes with hot water through pipelines stretching over 60 kilometers. So when locals take a shower, they’re literally bathing in the energy of this mighty spring.
Hraunfossar and Barnafoss
Our next stop brings us to one of Iceland’s most enchanting sights: Hraunfossar, or “the Lava Waterfalls.” Here, crystal-clear water seeps through porous lava rock, cascading gently into the Hvítá River below. The contrast of deep blue water and black volcanic stone creates a truly magical scene. Just upstream lies Barnafoss, “the Children’s Falls,” a powerful torrent rushing through a narrow canyon. According to legend, two children from a nearby farm lost their lives here long ago, prompting their heartbroken mother to destroy the stone bridge that once crossed the river. Today, only the story remains—a haunting reminder of nature’s power and mystery.
Húsafell
Surrounded by mountains and sheltered from harsh winds, Húsafell is a lush oasis of birch forests, lava fields, and natural beauty. This peaceful valley is home to many exciting activities—from glacier snowmobiling and lava cave explorations to geothermal canyon baths and scenic hikes. Visitors can relax in the Húsafell Canyon Baths or explore the man-made ice tunnels at Into the Glacier. The area also offers excellent dining options, including the elegant Hotel Húsafell restaurant and the cozy Húsafell Bistro. We offer several of these experiences as add-ons to the tour—perfect for travelers who want to make the most of their Icelandic adventure.
