On this fun and family friendly tour, we will sail out to Faxaflói bay to go sea angling! It doesn‘t matter if you have never been sea fishing before because it is very easy. The staff are happy to help you and show you how to handle the fishing rod and advise you on bait.

You will have a good chance of catching cod, haddock, rockfish and pollock. It is possible to barbeque the fresh fish; you do not even have to wait until we are back on land, you can do it on the boat!

The tour is suitable for everyone from the inexperienced to the experienced. You may want to fish as much as you can or just relax and enjoy the beautiful view with a fishing rod in hand. To prepare for this tour, we recommend you dress warmly but you will be equipped with a fishing rod and protective clothing onboard the boat.

"Great day of Fishing"

As a seasoned fisherman wanting to expose my children to some fishing in Iceland, I can confirm this tour is exactly what I wanted.

  • Helpful staff working hard to help take the fish off the hook and untangle lines
  • a short steam to the fishing spot (15-20 minutes)
  • a great meal of grilled fish and potatoes on the way back to shore (cannot get any fresher fish!)
  • well maintained equipment
  • a working bathroom clean and comfortable to use

Sodas and gatorades were available to purchase onboard with credit card. A nice touch.

A good mixture of adults and families. Fun had by everyone (helped by the fact we caught a lot of fish and had good weather).

There was a marine biologist on board, and we also happened to see whales, dolphins and puffins while out fishing. What a bonus!

If there was a negative that could take away a half star is the number of people on the boat. We didn’t feel crowded on the. boat until we were fishing. Then all lined up on the same side of the boat, we were shoulder-to-shoulder with lines in the water. This made for the occasional tangle that the crew resolved gleefully.

The style of fishing is bottom fishing - dropping the line to the sea floor, then jigging the rod up and down. Easy fishing for a novice.

Caught cod, mackerel and even a couple of haddock. All good eating!

Highly recommended.
