Most frequently asked

What is Iceland On Your Own?

Iceland On Your Own is the name for Reykjavik Excursions‘ scheduled bus operation. During the summer Iceland On Your Own is the perfect way for the independent traveller to get around Iceland.

Are the tours guided?

No guides are on our scheduled busses. However a GPS triggered audio guide provides passengers with interesting information about the top attractions.

Where do I get tickets?

Tickets can be bought on this page, at the BSÍ Bus Terminal in Reykjavík or at information centres and booking offices around Iceland.

Do I book specific seats on the bus?

No, but if you prefer a specific seat, showing up early might help you to secure your favourite seat.

Do I get pick up or drop off at my hotel?

Pick up and drop off is not included. From 13 June we will offer a shuttle service between Reykjavík City Hostel and Reykjavík Campsite, Lækjartorg and the bus terminal.

How do the passports work?

The validity depends on the type of passport, but it works as a single ticket for different amalgams of routes, optimized to provide freedom and flexibility to the passport holder.

The Circle Passport, for instance, allows you to travel either clockwise or anti-clockwise around the Island, where you can hop on and off as you please, taking as long time as you like (between 13 June and 7 September).

The Combo Passport is valid for 7, 11 or 15 days and allows you to travel along our whole bus network as often as you please.
